Horizontal Activities

Horizon Europe 2026-2027 includes cross-cluster calls open to a wide range of disciplines and sectors. The Horizontal Activities Work Programme 2026-2027 is currently under amendment process. The final version shall include calls for Clean Industrial Deal and AI in Science, Transformative change towards a nature-positive economy and society (Nature Call) and Bridging Actions.

Clean Industrial Deal

The Clean Industrial Deal confirms Europe’s dedication to its decarbonisation goals by offering clear business incentives. It will help create lead markets to boost supply and demand in clean tech and energy-intensive industries (such as chemicals, cement, steel and metal). The main aim of this call is to support the development of a new generation of demonstrators in clean tech and decarbonised industry that combine technological excellence with market readiness with a view to accelerating their market deployment.

AI in Science

The AI in Science call is aligned with the European Commission's RAISE (Resource for AI Science in Europe) initiative aiming at building a European AI-for-Science ecosystem. Projects will be funded to accelerate scientific discovery through AI and develop trustworthy AI-driven research infrastructures, thus strengthening Europe's scientific competitiveness, AI capabilities and leadership.

Bridging Actions

The Bridging Actions call supports the transition between the current Horizon Europe programme and its successor. The call focuses on strengthening the pathway from research results to market uptake, helping innovations become deployment-ready and attractive for investment. Topics cover knowledge valorisation, access to research data and infrastructures, and the application of AI.

Transformative change towards a nature-positive economy and society (Nature Call)

The Nature Call aims to strengthen biodiversity-related research and innovation across Horizon Europe. It will fund projects that help protect and restore nature, improve understanding of biodiversity benefits and impacts of the clean and digital transitions, advance the use of environmental data and digital technologies, and contribute to policy objectives such as One Health. Interdisciplinary approaches and the integration of social sciences and humanities are strongly encouraged.
