What does Euresearch do?
more information less informationEuresearch is your Swiss guide to European research and innovation. We provide information and guidance on cooperation and funding opportunities offered by the EU Framework Programme "Horizon Europe" and other initiatives.
What is the main mission or goal of Euresearch?
more information less informationWe inform, advise and connect anybody in Switzerland interested in EU Funding Programmes for Research and Innovation.
Researchers or any other interested party in Switzerland can request information on funding opportunities tailored to their specific research and collaboration goals or needs.
We provide support every step of the way for the whole application process, ranging from your search for research partners and relevant research topics, to writing a proposal and submitting your application to the chosen funding scheme.
We advise you throughout the various phases of project management and assist you with any administrative questions. In addition, our advisors offer training sessions and relevant workshops for applicants as well as specific events and services for companies.
We connect researchers based in or coming to Switzerland and keep you updated on any upcoming calls for proposals and opportunities within the European research and innovation programmes.
What is the status of Switzerland in Horizon Europe?
more information less informationResearchers and innovators in Switzerland can participate in Horizon Europe. Swiss entities can apply as Beneficiaries from programme year 2025 onward.
As of 1 January 2025 the EU has fully activated the transitional arrangement that allows Swiss organisations to apply as “Beneficiaries” to almost all Horizon Europe and Euratom calls from the 2025 programme year onward. Check out our factsheet for more details.

For which research areas does Horizon Europe offer funding?

- tackles climate change, helps to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth
- facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges
- supports the development and dissemination of knowledge and technologies
- creates jobs, fully engages the EU’s talent pool, boosts economic growth, promotes industrial competitiveness and optimises investment impact within a strengthened European Research Area.

How can researchers apply for support or funding?
more information less informationEuresearch has offices across Switzerland and a Network Office in Bern. Your first entry point are the Euresearch Regional Offices.
You will find all contacts here. The Network Office in Bern is the operational centre of the Euresearch Association and the home of the National Contact Points.

Several platforms offer online partner search tools to facilitate networking and collaboration among universities, research organisations, SMEs and industry across Europe and around the world.

What is a National Contact Point (NCP)?
more information less informationThe network of National Contact Points (NCPs) is the main structure to provide guidance, practical information and assistance on all aspects of participation in Horizon Europe.
All NCPs for Switzerland work at the Euresearch Network Office in Bern.

Where can I find support in drafting my proposal?
more information less informationThe adviser at Euresearch will support you with an eligibility and idea check. They can also match your idea with potential funding sources and check your eligibility for funding.
We also support you in preparing applications, advising consortia, reviewing applications and providing specific skills.
Who are the key partners or collaborators involved with Euresearch?
more information less informationEuresearch is a non-profit organisation funded by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI. We work closely with SERI, particularly on issues relating to Swiss eligibility and other participation rules.
SwissCore is the Swiss information and liaison office for European policies and programmes in research, innovation and education (ERI) based in Brussels. Close co-operation helps us to stay informed about the latest developments in Brussels.
Euresearch is a partner of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN). The network brings together 600 partner organisations in more than 60 countries that promote competitiveness and innovation in Europe and beyond, providing a ‘one-stop-shop’ access to all the information needed to develop businesses internationally and find the right research, technology and business partners.
