Status of Switzerland in Horizon Europe
Current Association Status
The EU Programmes Agreement (EUPA) was signed on 10 November 2025 between Switzerland and the European Commission. It applies with immediate effect, meaning that Switzerland is associated to Horizon Europe retroactively from 1 January 2025. Check out our factsheet for more details.
Grant agreements of positively evaluated projects of calls for proposals 2025 can now be signed and project funding will come directly from the European Commission, as Switzerland makes a mandatory contribution to the EU for this purpose.
The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) provides regularly updated information on Switzerland’s status on its webpage:

How Do I Apply to Horizon Europe?
more information less information- You apply in the role of Beneficiary in all Horizon Europe calls from program year 2025 onwards and request your budget to the EC. You can also apply in the role of project coordinator.
- Cascade funding (FSTP) calls for proposals opening in 2025 or later are not funded by SERI.
All running and awarded projects till program year 2024 are not affected by the association of Switzerland to Horizon Europe.
