Federal Council Releases Further Funds for Direct Funding 2021–2024 and an Order of Priority Is Applied to All Pending and Future Funding Requests in 2021–2024 Calls for Proposals

Due to Switzerland's non-association to the Horizon package (Horizon Europe, Euratom programme, Digital Europe Programme, ITER), the Federal Council adopted a series of transitional measures in the period 2021–2024. The volume of funding requests, including those already submitted and those anticipated, is very high. It is expected that the requested funding will exceed the available funds. On 20 June 2025, the Federal Council therefore decided to allocate an additional CHF 75 million for this purpose, subject to budgetary approval by the Swiss Parliament.

In addition, the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) will apply measures based on an order of priority to all pending and future funding requests in relation to 2021–2024 calls for proposals, pursuant to the relevant Ordinance. SERI has published the order of priority and detailed information on its implementation for applicants on its website.
