Partner Search: Industrial Partners Needed for Full-Scale Demonstration of Heat Upgrade Solutions in Industrial Processes

A Spanish technology centre is preparing a project proposal for the HORIZON-CL5-2026-09-D4-08 call. The proposal aims to satisfy the need for process heat in industrial sectors by upgrading excess/waste heat from the process itself, to improve energy efficiency and to reduce the GHG emissions and air pollutants and the use of fossil fuels. They are looking for industrial partners and a system integrator outside Spain.

The technology centre is looking for several partners:

1) at least one industrial partner (SME or large company) that can participate as the demo-site industrial partners, where the innovations will be integrated at TRL 7-8. It might be established and located in Europe.

The industrial partner should work in the food and beverage sector, for instance:
- Sugar processing & refining
- Dairy & milk processing
- Wineries & distilleries
- Meat, poultry, & seafood processing

The role of this industrial partner might be:
i) Provide operational data (temperature, pressure…)
ii) Validate use of innovative solutions into their manufactured products (at lab scale)

2) One company to act as the system integrator (SI). It should lead the design and implementation of the overall thermal energy system architecture, ensuring the seamless integration of heat recovery units, upgrading technologies (e.g. heat pumps, thermal storage), and related control systems into a coherent solution. It will be in charge of the detailed P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) diagrams and Balance of Plant (BoP) designs. The SI will be responsible for integration of advanced control and monitoring strategies, and alignment with relevant standards to enable efficient heat recovery, temperature upgrading, and flexible operation under real-life conditions.
