Connecting Switzerland and the European Union in Research, Innovation and Education

SwissCore is the Swiss information and liaison office for European policies and programmes in research, innovation and education in Brussels. The office acts as a bridge between Switzerland's agencies and organisations, and their European counterparts in the area of research, innovation, and education.

SwissCore is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, and Innosuisse - Swiss Innovation Agency. The office also works closely with its partners: Euresearch (in research and innovation), Movetia (in education), and swissuniversities (in all three areas).

SwissCore is the Swiss member of the Informal Group of RTD Liaison Offices (IGLO), an informal European association of Brussels-based non-profit education, research, and innovation (ERI) liaison offices. IGLO facilitates and enhances interaction, information exchange and co-operation between its members, their national ERI systems, and European institutions on issues related to European ERI topics, in particular the Horizon Europe Framework Programme and Erasmus+. This positions SwissCore at the heart of these EU programmes and the respective policies and enables its team to inform funders, partners and targeted stakeholders on current and upcoming developments in European ERI policies and programmes. This work also includes informing the IGLO network about Switzerland's participation in Horizon Europe and Erasmus+.

SwissCore is therefore in close contact with the National Contact Points (NCPs) at Euresearch and with the entire Euresearch network, informing NCPs and Regional Offices on developments in the EU's priorities and current and emerging policies that will affect the Framework Programmes in Research and Innovation. Euresearch and SwissCore share knowledge and exchange information on new developments in Horizon Europe, with a special focus on how Swiss participants are affected by changes and updates to the programme.

SwissCore connects the Swiss and EU ERI communities by giving presentations on European ERI developments, organising visits and training, and by carrying out mandates on behalf of its funders and partners. Furthermore, as a liaison office, it promotes the Swiss ERI landscape at European level by highlighting Swiss-EU collaboration through events and other communication channels.

SwissCore's services for the wider ERI community include the free monthly Synopsis newsletter, different event formats, and its facilities in Brussels.
